This week we are featuring Daniele & Alessia from Dale on Travel.

Here’s our travel interview with Daniele and Alessia from Dale on travel. They are passionate about travelling the world and post amazing pictures from their travels on Instagram. You should definitely check out their Instagram account that they maintain like a beautiful blog , it definitely inspires everyone to travel.

Questions for the Interview

1)Introduce yourself and your blog to our readers.

We are Daniele and Alessia, and with the fusion of our names we created the name Dale on Travel. We come from Vicenza, a pretty artistic city in the North of Italy, near Venice and have been friends for a long time and then we started our relationship more then 6 years and a half ago, and that’s when we started travelling together, one of our common passions!

We started the Instagram experience this in late March 2018, before that we were only collecting amazing trips and plenty of pics to remember every special place and moment spent on holiday. But then we decided to share those moments with other people all around the world! In the future we hope to start a blog as well! as I (Alessia) love to write about our travelling experiences, and I always keep a diary during every trip. At the moment, in every pic in our Instagram page we put descriptions, tips and curiosities about the place we are visiting.

2)What’s your style of travel?

We travel as a couple, and that’s the most important thing for us. We also travel in low budget (but not too much): take public transports if necessary, or rental cars; we sleep in simple accommodations such as campsites, motels, bed & breakfasts; eat typical food (that usually is less expensive and adds value to the vacation).

3)Which place are you from? What are the top 3 must visit places in your city?

We come from Vicenza, Italy. Our city is known as the city of Andrea Palladio, a famous architect that designed some buildings like Basilica Palladiana, Villa Capra (La Rotonda) and the Olympic Theatre. These are absolutely places to visit if you come in Italy!

4)Do you like travelling Solo or with a Travel Partner. Why do you choose so?

We always travel together, can’t imagine to travel without him and vice versa! We always had this common passion and we have similar interests so it’s so good to travel together.

5)What is the message that you have for all aspiring Travel Blogger?

Travel as much as you can, experience the places you visit with their natural beauty, their food, their traditions, know people all around the world and then keep all this on your memory! Photos are a good help to remember about your travel experiences, and a way to transmit to other people your feelings and point of view. Add to them your personal thoughts, suggestions, and so on. The beginning of the blogging experience could be slow, but what is important is to stay motivated and go on doing what you love.

7) The best piece of advice that you can give an amateur travel blogger aspiring to earn a passive income through blogging.

We do travel blogging as a hobby and don’t know yet how to transform this with a real “job”, or how to earn money with this.

8)Do you have any funny/strange travel story?

The strangest one should be that of New Orleans! From the airport we took a shuttle that brought us downtown, and then we waited for the bus that would take us to the motel booked. When the driver saw us climb, he asked us if we were sure we were heading in the right direction, and we answered yes. We started being a little worried. The driver stopped ahead of the requested stop, right in front of the motel entrance, inviting us to pay attention. We immediately realized that we had come at the border between a well-off and a very poor suburban area of New Orleans, entered through the bars at the entrance to the motel and left our suitcases in the room. We came back at the bus stop to go back downtown. At that moment, two boys were heading toward us, slamming a piece of wood on the hand in a threatening way. At the last moment, they changed direction and continued to carry out their activities, while we were so scared but also relieved! We will never forget those moments!!

9)If you could go back in time. Which ancient ruin from around the world would you choose to visit and explore. Why?

We would like to visit the Maya ruins, because Daniele has always been fascinated by their history, since he was a child.

10)How does “Travel” make you feel? Can you share with us 3 top insights that you gained from your travels.

Travel makes us feel free, makes us open our minds and discover everytime new things. That’s why we love it and need it so much!

11)Name your top 5 bucket list travel destination and why do choose it?

In our bucket list there are too many places! The 5 top are:

Iceland: we would like to see geysers, the powerful waterfalls, and the Northern Lights.

Philippines: we dream to see the whale sharks!

Thailand: would like to relax on one of that amazing beaches, and swim surrounded by fishes of all colours.

India: the nature is stunning in there, and we dream to see the tiger!

South Africa: can’t get enough of safaris in Africa!

12)Do you have any tips on travelling with a pet?

Not yet! 🙂

13)Where do you prefer to stay- Hotel, Hostel or AirBnB etc? Why?

Hotels are the most comfortable accommodations, but BnBs, motels and campsites are less expensive. Our favorites however are bed & breakfasts and guesthouses: usually you know the owner and he can give you some helpful tips about the area you are visiting.

14)As travellers we all love collecting Souvenirs .What do you love collecting?

We rarely collect something material from our travels: sometimes we buy some shirts (but not from the souvenirs shops), or bracelets.

15)When do you find time to blog on your travels? How long do you usually take to finish a blog.

We are late-bloggers: we are posting about a past travel, while we are making new ones. We don’t think it’s easy to find time for blogging while travelling, also because we have very intense programs when we are on holiday.

16)Do you send postcards to your friends when you travel? If not postcards what souvenirs do you prefer to gift your friends?

We send postcards or buy some souvenirs for family and friends at times. We like the useful ones like folding fans, t-shirts, keychains, and so on.

17)What’s your favourite cuisine? Do you like trying out local food when you travel to places. If yes, what’s your favourite dish that you loved the most?

We love to try the local food! It’s difficult to choose only one.. We love Mexican, Chinese, Japanese, Vietnamese, Indian, African cuisines.. But our favourite is our Italian cuisine! Our favourite dish while travelling was the lobster in Kenya.

18)When do you prefer to travel to a new place – peak season or off season? Why?

If we can we go off season, but only if the weather permits to enjoy the places.

19)How do you manage your travel expense? Do you have any particular suggestions for budget travellers?

We write down all the expenses to control how much we are spending. For a budget travel we suggest to book in advance, search for good restaurants but not too expensive, sleep in simple accommodations.

20)If you had to draw a pie chart of your travel expenses. What would your top 5 priorities be?

The flight or the trips by car, the food, the accommodations, the excursions and a little shopping.

21) What are the apps or resources that’s been an absolute life saver during travels or planning your trip?

We use Booking and Expedia to search for good prices for flights and hotels, and Tripadvisor to choose places to visit or where to eat.
