Did you know there’s LoveLocks in Singapore??

LoveLocks- A beautiful Custom and a Symbol of Everlasting Love.
I have always fancied the whole idea of Love locks. The first time I saw these were in Korean Series and was hoping I’ll find one during my travel to places someday. Singapore being a city with so many rules I didn’t actually expect to find it here. Love locks in Singapore – wow!!! this was quite a serendipitous find.
My husband and me, we were walking along the river side at Clark quay , that’s when we came across this huge fence with love locks . There was also a huge heart shaped arch beautifully decorated by love locks affixed to it.
This is such a lovely tradition isn’t it. Love locks – a symbol of love and commitment .The world looks so beautiful when looked through the eyes of love.
I personally adore this whole idea of love locks and was overjoyed when I saw a whole fence filled with myriad of padlocks in Singapore. Each and every lock with it’s unique beauty. Together these love locks makes the whole place quite picturesque as well.

History of Padlocks/ Love Locks:
Love locks is a beautiful custom that is believed to have been originated from Serbia where lovers affixed padlocks on the bridge. This romantic little ritual was slowly accepted by lovers across the world and that’s how so many other places started following love locks custom. This is a custom where lovers lock a padlock ( Lovers often personalize it with their names, photographs, special quotes, dates or messages)onto a chain or fence or a bridge and throw the key into a river nearby symbolically locking their love forever.

I am aware of the fact that there have been so many issues with love locks being hung on bridges. How the weight of these locks affect the fence of these bridges . Now-a-days many countries maintain monuments specially for love locks to be hung up on them that way it doesn’t affect any bridges.
In Singapore the love locks fence we saw at Clark quay was something similar.There is this huge heart shaped arch of fence for love locks here at Singapore.Like Street arts love locks are also restricted to a specific location within the city of Singapore. It is strictly prohibited if it’s done elsewhere .

It has been said that if both members of “love’s hand” are not present as the lock locks, the love has been forever jinxed. – Wikpedia. Well, that is just a story .If you ask me I feel true love definitely does follow the first law of thermodynamics which states “Energy can neither be created nor destroyed”.I am sure my geeky hubby agrees with me on this one.
If you are looking for creative ways to express love. Participate in this beautiful old tradition. Personalize your own padlocks in creative ways and lock the padlocks on the fences that are legally sanctioned for love locks and not at any random bridge or fence.
