Singapore’s journey towards 5G has begun.

Singtel and Ericsson were the first to showcase 5G network in South East Asia.Singtel is the first network service provider that’s been successful in providing 5G network. The Perquisites that one enjoys using 5G are Massive Connectivity, faster download speeds, Ultra low latency and higher capacity.
Ericsson and Singtel jointly established a centre of excellence to provide 5G Network and have made the journey towards 5G possible in reality. Studies shows that the 5G Network is expected to roll out globally by 2020.
As of now the 5G Network services have been provided only to few central locations in Singapore. It’s been 3 weeks since Singtel service agent fixed the 5G Network router in our home. Check out the Singtel’s News releases to know more about it’s Successful Journey towards 5G.
A brief history of Wireless phone Technology:
• The whole concept of Wireless phone Technology started at 1990s with 1G network.
• Companies then expanded to 2G network which enabled users to send text messages between two cellular phones.
• Then came the 3G which enabled users to send text messages, make phones and browse the internet and provided a transfer speed of 2Mbps.
• With the arrival of 4G all the features of 3G were now enhanced. People could send text messages, make phone calls , browse the internet all at the same time .In addition they could also download or upload large video files without any issue.
• The 4G technology was further modified to become 4G LTE( Long Term Evolution).Adding LTE to 4G Connectivity further enhanced the 4G network .Thus 4G LTE became the fastest variant of 4G .
• With the advent of 5G -Massive Connectivity, faster download speeds, Ultra low latency and higher capacity is possible.5G is built based on the foundation created by 4G LTE.
Advantages of 5G Over 4G LTE:
• Currently in most countries 4G and 4G LTE is being used . The Max transfer speed for 4G LTE is 1 Gbps ( 1 Giga Bits Per Second).Which means it’ll take about an hour to download an HD Movie in perfect condition. 5G increases the transfer speed to 10 Gbps ( 10 Gigabits Per Second) thereby, enabling the user to download an HD movie within seconds. Sounds cool isn’t it?
• Not Just that 5G also aims at Ultra low latency thus reducing the load time which ensures continuous streaming videos , movies and songs online with almost no buffering .
• 5G network will also have a high capacity which means it has the ability to handle a myriad devices at the same time. This means that mobile network can also be used to connect a number of sensors and machines as well. However this vision is set to be achieved by 2020.
